Basant Panchami or Vasantha Panchami 2024

Basant Panchami is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright half of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Magha. The festival is particularly observed by Hindus in the Indian subcontinent, notably India and Nepal. It is the birthday of Ma Saraswathi, the Goddess of knowledge, Arts and Music. Avanamcode Saraswathi Temple, Nedumbassery is the only temple in Kerala where this festival is celebrated.

This is the perfect day to start new Investments, Business, Vidyarambham, Choroonu, etc. This year, Basant Panchami falls on 14 February 2024, Wednesday. Devotees undertake fasting during the day and do Basant Panchami pooja on this auspicious day for attaining prosperity for the family and also to ward off miseries. One should take darshan at Saraswathi temples on this day reciting Saraswathi mantras and strotas. It is important to do pooja of musical instruments, chilanka, books, etc on Basant Panchami. It is believed that Ma Saraswathi will bless devotees with intellect, health and prosperity on this day, and hence, it is important for students, professionals, performers and artists to do darshan during Basant Panchami.

Time of darshan during Basant Panchami will be from 5.00 am to 10.30 am in the morning and 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm in the evening. Vidyarambham and Choroonu can be done from 7.30 am to 10.30 am. After Vijayadashami Day, the Basant Panchami is the best day for undertaking Vidyarambham at Avanamcode Saraswathi Temple where Vidyarambham can be done every day of the calendar year. On this divine day, Special Saraswathi Poojas, Veda Mantras, Reading of Puranas, Music Offerings will be done in the morning and Flower and Light Decorations & Ma Saraswathi’s favourite Veena Concert will be done in the evening.
