ANNADANAM (FOOD OFFERING)

Annadanam is a noble charity in which free food is distributed to devotees and those in need. In Hindu scriptures, it is said, “Annadanam Mahadanam” — meaning the donation of food is the greatest of all donations, as food is the very basis of life.

By performing Annadanam:

  • One’s spiritual merit (punyam) increases.

  • Divine grace and blessings are received.

  • It is believed that peace and prosperity in the family will grow.

  • The mind attains satisfaction and spiritual tranquility.

  • It helps in alleviating poverty and serving society.

On special occasions, Annadanam can be conducted in the temple as an offering (vazhipadu). Offering Amount: As per one’s ability (any amount one can afford).

UDAYASTHAMANA PUJA (18 PUJAS)

Udayasthamana Puja is one of the most important offerings performed for Ma Saraswati, conducted continuously from sunrise to sunset. The rituals are carried out under the guidance of the Tantri (chief priest). Devotees sponsor this puja in their name for the fulfillment of wishes, prosperity, and the removal of obstacles. Offering Amount: ₹35,000

CHATHUSHATHA PAYASAM (MAHA NIVEDYAM)

The word “Chathushatha” means four hundred (400). This is a grand offering in which Payasam (a sweet pudding) is prepared in 400 measures (or served to 400 people) and offered to Ma Saraswati Devi. It is regarded as a Maha Nivedyam (great offering).

This offering is performed for increasing prosperity and abundance. It is believed that by conducting this offering, devotees receive divine blessings, family well-being and peace, financial progress, and great spiritual merit. Offering Amount: ₹15,000

MUDIYETTU OFFERING

Mudiyettu represents the ultimate manifestation of the divine power of Bhadrakali, who is believed to have originated from Lord Parameswara (Shiva). She is regarded as the universal mother of all beings. Devotees pray to the Goddess to destroy darkness and protect the innocent. Over time, she has been worshipped for protection from dangers such as Darika, black magic, evil spirits, and negative forces, as well as for relief from delusions caused by misguided tantric practices.

The incarnation of Bhadrakali was for the purpose of destroying the demon Darikasura. It is believed that Darikasura performed intense worship and rituals to gain powerful boons and tantric knowledge for his protection. The most beloved offering to the Goddess is symbolically dedicating her own divine incarnation story back to her. This is why Mudiyettu holds great significance in Bhagavathi temples. Through this ritual performance, the Goddess is pleased and bestows her blessings.

Mudiyettu is conducted on the final night of the Pooram festival at the sub-temple (upakshetram) dedicated to Bhadrakali. Devotees may sponsor it as a vazhipadu (offering). Offering Amount: ₹65,000
